OIS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING: Wed Oct 28th at 5.15pm MCC
We will be having a meeting on Wednesday Oct 28th, 2009 from 5.15pm at the MCC right after the coffee hour. All members & prospective members are welcome to the event. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. For those who want to be more involved this is your opportunity. In our first meeting, I know that we had suggested for mondays but that didn't work out. Hopefully we will see you there tomorrow. Thank you for you zeal and enthuthiasm for serving at OIS. Below is a brief on the agenda and upcoming events which you can be apart of.

OIS Coordinator position
The Organization of International Students (OIS) is currently accepting applications for the open coordinator position.
We encourage peoples from all cultural backgrounds to apply.
Requirements:-
Must be a full-time student at Portland State University and have been a student at PSU for at least 9 months. Must have good organizational skills, event planning experience and proven leadership skills working with students from diverse cultures. Must have attended, planned, or participated in a past International Night at PSU or another university. Must be a member of the international student community at PSU and/or Must have a close working relationship with this community.
Must have a commitment to the functioning and success of OIS. Must maintain good academic standing throughout time of employment. Must meet student employment requirements.
The application packet is available at the front desk in East Hall 101. We can also email it to you upon request. The deadline for the application is Friday October 23rd, 2009.

OIS movie Night

Where:Multicultural Center (SMSU 228)
Time: 6pm-8pm
Why: because its free & you know you want to!
You are all invited to Fall quarter's OIS movie night! The region of focus will be Africa. Feature film is the award winning South African film, Sarafina. Food and refreshments will be provided i.e. African cuisine! See you there!

Colored Pencils Event: Volunteers Needed!!!

For those interested in becoming more involved with organizing events, we have an opportunity for you!! Colored pencils is a cultural event which takes place every last Friday of the month to promote cultural diversity in Portland. This October, we have the priviledge of hosting the event here at PSU. I personally went to the first meeting last month and thoroughly enjoyed myself listening to the poetry, diverse music from diverse music artists, cultural food and displayed artwork.
